Commercial areas in Layton provide services and employment to residents and visitors including retail, restaurant, office, and general business uses. Commercial areas generate a higher volume of vehicle trips, and are therefore most appropriately located with convenient access along highways and arterial streets.  The largest-scale commercial uses draw regional visits and are most appropriately located along the I-15 and Main Street corridor.  Commercial uses serving surrounding residential neighborhoods within the community should be more limited in size, and provide appropriate land use buffers when located next to existing off-site single family residential neighborhoods.
